Angel
The angel came about via an editing process. I had a large wedge of chestnut which I intended to turn into a simple abstract shape. When I started working on the piece with a chainsaw, the blade sank in with practically no resistance. The wood was rotten. By the time I had reached the usable solid part I had removed around three quarters of the original block. had a relatively small oblong with a bit sticking out at one end. After further tidying up of the rotten bits, a kneeling figure began to emerge. The part sticking out was too thin to effectively work as the figures head but as it was still in good condition, I was reluctant to remove it and so it became wings. Unintentional, however I like the end result.
